Siruvani dam and Kalladikodan Hills

Siruvani dam is a dam in Palakkad District; Kerala located 46 km away from Palakkad town. This dam constructed across the  Siruvani River is for supplying drinking water to the city of Coimbatore in Tamil Nadu. The dam is surrounded by reserve
Forests. Muthikulam hill is situated on the eastern side of the dam. There is a natural waterfall in the hill. The waterfalls and the Dam are big tourist attractions. The famous 150 year old Pattiyar Bungalow is on the banks of the Siruvani Reservoir.
 
An agreement was executed in August 1973 between the state Governments for drinking water supply to Coimbatore town and  neighboring areas from the Siruvani Dam. Siruvani is also home to certain tribals like the Mudugars and Irulars.

Kalladikodan Hills:

A trip to Kalladikodan Hills is not just about enjoying a leisure time but beholding the beauty along with listening to the  Myths ad tales surrounding the hills. It has rich history that ranges from the uprising against the British to many a ghost  tale of Kalladikodan Neeli. The famous Siruvani Dam, the main water source to the city of Coimbatore ,is renowned for its taste and mineral properties.Attilla waterfalls,Kanjirampuzha ,Meenvallam waterfalls originate from this hills range. There  are many factors that make Kalladikodan hills a major spot on the tourism map of Kerala.

Route:

Siruvani Dam is only accessible for public from Kerala via Palakkayam Town near Mannarkkad town in Palakkad district. There
are 2 route in NH 213( Palakkad- Ramanattukara)between Palakkad and Mannarkkad. You can see Siruvani Eco tourism board on
left hand side while traveling towards Palakkad.

Route 1: Deviate at Chirakkalpadi, Kanjiram, Kanjirampuzha dam, Palakkayam
Route 2: Deviate at St.Johns Orthodox Church, Palakkayam


  

We have to book a trip in prior calling Injikunnu check post (04924-207042), there onward we have to use a hired vehicle

(forest  Department will arrange), entry fee is 30/head; jeep cost will be around 2000/ 8 person.

It will take approximately 3 hours covering
