Velliangiri Mountains

The Velliangiri Mountains, a part of the Nilgiri Biosphere Reserve, are situated at the Western Ghats border of Coimbatore district, Tamil Nadu. Known as the "Thenkailayam ("Kailash of the South", these mountains are held and revered on par with spiritually most powerful place on the planet - Mount Kailash, the legendary abode of Shiva. On the top of the Velliangiri Mountains, Shiva is worshiped as Swayambu, one who is self-created and in this form, he graces the devotees. Besides, the Shiva Temple of Velliangiri, the presence of the Dhyanalinga is another reason why people throng to the Velliangiri Hills

Tips:

Season:
The best season for undertaking this pilgrimage is between the first of the month of January ( from 14th) and May end.
Carry minimum 4 liter of water, Also carry enough food preferably fruits
There will be small shops on almost all hills
You might go throgh variosu climatc condition so be prepared for everything
best time for trekking:-> Start @ 10 PM from Poondi temple, reach 7th hill by morning(dont miss the lovely view of Sunrise), you can almost all major portion of Palakkad and Coimbatore districts, especially Siruvani Dam.

Without having enough fitness avoid the trip, really tough to complete the entire trail.

Remaining season:

You need to have a group of people(preferably 10+) to get permision to enter the trekking route from Poondi temple. Otherwise you are risking your life. many gone missing in this route
Complete your up and down trip in sunlight, Eventhough beware of Cheetah, Elephant, Bear, fox, Bison etc.
